Looking for bridesmaid dresses? A unique cocktail dress? Maybe just a summer dress you can show off? Kimberly Noland Designs fits all of these needs, with simple style, yet elegant class that differs from many other dress designers out there. And she just graduated from college last year.
Read the interview here ....
Kim went to fashion school near my hometown, at Marist College, (a lovely picture-perfect campus nestled on the Hudson River with a kick-butt design program) and after graduating in 2010 she immediately launched her own design label "Kimberly Noland Designs", fulfilling her dream of having her own fashion line.
The Holiday 2010 collection was immensely successful, so she worked on an even larger spring 2011 line, which is what we see here. What I really liked about my interview with Kim was a statement she made when I asked her about her inspiration for her designs. She said she lets fashion greats like Twiggy and Jackie O inspire her, along the runway, as far as what's going to be in style that year, but also gets inspiration from the local people she knows and their styles.
"What I design is also influenced by my town Huntsville, AL because I like to look at what people are actually wearing, what events are happening, where women are going... It may look fantastic on a runway to see a neon blue leather cocktail dress encrusted with beading, but is this practical, is my customer going to event think twice about something like that? I keep real women in mind when designing and their fashion wants and needs."
I thought this was really cool and special, and so true about her designs. They are classic pieces for real people with real bodies, not just runway models.
Send Kim some love by liking her on Facebook, and checking out her designs on Etsy. Good luck Kim and we can't wait to see the next line you put out!
xoxo Chelsea
